[0011]

FIG. 1 is a diagram showing the configuration of main parts in a first embodiment of an optical disc apparatus to which the present invention is applied.

[0024]

Referring first to FIG. 1 . FIG. 1 is a diagram showing the configuration of the main parts of the optical disc apparatus according to the present embodiment. This optical disc apparatus includes a spindle motor 232 for rotating the optical disc 240 and an optical pickup 1 for recording and reproducing data from the optical disc 240 . The internal structure of the optical pickup 1 will be described in detail later.

[0025]

The position of the optical pickup 1 is movably supported by a stepping motor or a DC motor (not shown), and a vertical feed operation in the direction of the optical disc 240 is possible. Under the action of this longitudinal feeding action, the optical pickup 1 can access the target track on the optical disc 240 . In order to realize a high-speed vertical feed operation, it is de...

[Second Embodiment]

Next, referring to FIG. 10, a second embodiment of the optical disc apparatus to which the present invention is applied will be described. FIG. 10 is a diagram showing the configuration of the optical pickup in this embodiment.

[0078]

Although the optical pickup in this embodiment includes three semiconductor lasers 201, 202, and 203 having different oscillation wavelengths, the objective lens for condensing the light beam onto the optical disc 240 is only a single objective lens 227, which is different from the first objective lens 227. The optical pickups in the embodiments are different.

[0079]

The optical pickup in this embodiment includes a laser driver IC 204, a photodetector 209, and a flexible printed circuit board 212 on which other electrical components (not shown) are mounted. On the flexible printed circuit board 212, wirings 205, 206, and 207 are formed by copper foil patterns. The wirings 205, 206, and 207 form transmission lines co...

Abstract

An optical pickup includes an integrated circuit element (LDD) (5) for driving a first, a second, and a third semiconductor laser (3, 4, 5). The LDD (50) has a shape having a rectangular main surface defined by sides and a plurality of I/O pins are arranged on each of the sides. The I/O pins includes a first pin group connected to the blue/violet laser (5) having the shortest oscillation wavelength, a second pin group connected to the red laser (4), and a third pin group connected to the infrared laser (3). The optical pickup wiring structure includes a first transmission line (41) connecting the first pin group to the blue/violet laser (5), a second transmission line (33) connecting the second pin group to the red laser (4), and a third transmission line (31) connecting the third pin group to the infrared laser (3). The first transmission line (41) is shorted than the second and the third transmission line (31, 33). On the rectangular main surface of the LDD (50), the side having the first pin groups orthogonally intersects the side having the second pin group or the side having the third pin group.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to an optical pickup and an optical disc device including the same. Background technique [0002] In an optical disc recording and reproducing apparatus, in order to read data from or write data to an optical disc, it is necessary to access a desired position on the optical disc with an optical pickup. An optical pickup includes a light source that emits a light beam, an objective lens that focuses the light beam onto an optical disc, and a light receiving element that outputs an electrical signal based on the light beam reflected from the optical disc. [0003] The light source in the optical pickup uses a semiconductor laser. A semiconductor laser can be operated by a driving current supplied from a laser driving circuit, and emits laser light having an intensity corresponding to the driving current. [0004] When a part of the laser light reflected by the optical disk enters the semiconductor laser, the oscill...
