The invention provides a long-distance concentrated ammeter reading system based on a flooding algorithm. The ammeter reading system is characterized by comprising a master ammeter reading station, a general packet radio service (GPRS) network, a concentrator and an electric carrier ammeter, wherein the master ammeter reading station and the concentrator are provided with GPRS modules and communicated through the GPRS network; and the concentrator and the electric carrier ammeter are communicated through an electric wire. By using the system, the disadvantages of the traditional ammeter reading mode are overcome, thereby completing functions such as data acquisition, measurement, transmission, settlement and the like, realizing functions such as long-distance reading, inquiry, payment, intelligent control and the like. The system has the advantages of small work load, large transmission data quantity, high veracity, low expenditure and the like; and a modern automatic technique is used for replacing manual management, thereby improving efficiency.
