Abstract

Discharge cavity of the arc tube is prepared by sintering straight tube typed ceramic tube of polycrystal alumina and ceramic plugs at two ends of tube integrally. Inner side at top part in shape of taper or cone, which is extended into discharge tube, can raise light effect and color-rendering index. Back end part of ceramic plug through a conical transition tube is connected to a slim tube with a small hole in center. Through mode of glass solder, a pair of electrode is extended into the slim tube to realize hermetic seal with ceramics cavity. Start-up gas, mercury, and some metal halides required by different spectrum are filled in discharge tube. It is evident that photoelectric properties of the disclosed metal halide lamp are over properties of the quartz metal halide lamp.
