Embodiment Construction

[0044] Embodiments of the present invention will be described below with reference to the drawings.

[0045] figure 1 and 2 show the overall structure of the evaporator of the motor vehicle air conditioner according to the present invention, and Figures 3 to 8 Shows the structure of the main components.

[0046] figure 1 and 2 show an evaporator 1 for a motor vehicle air conditioner in which a chlorofluorocarbon refrigerant is used. The evaporator 1 includes an aluminum refrigerant inlet-outlet box 2 and an aluminum refrigerant diversion box 3 arranged at a certain distance on top of the other, and a Heat exchange core 4.

[0047] The refrigerant inlet-outlet box 2 includes a refrigerant inlet header 5 provided on the front side (downstream side with respect to the flow direction of air passing through the evaporator), and a refrigerant inlet header 5 located on the rear side (upstream side with respect to the air flow). Outlet header 6. A refrigerant inlet pipe 7 made ...

Abstract

An evaporator 1 comprises a plurality of flat heat exchange tubes 12 arranged in a left-right direction at a spacing with the widthwise direction thereof pointing forward or rearward, and fins 14 arranged between respective adjacent pairs of heat exchange tubes 12. The fins 14 have at least front edges thereof projected forwardly outward beyond the heat exchange tubes 12. Assuming that the amount of projection of the fins 14 beyond the heat exchange tubes 12 is X mm and that the heat exchange tubes 12 are Y mm in thickness in the left-right direction, i.e., in height, X and Y have the relationship of 0.11Y=X=1.0Y. The surfaces of the fins 14 can be drained of condensation water efficiently.

Description

[0001] Cross References to Related Applications [0002] This application is filed pursuant to 35 U.S.C. §111(a) and is required by 35 U.S.C. §119(e)(1) to be filed under 35 U.S.C. §111(b) on July 8, 2004 and provisional on June 8, 2005 Filing date benefits for applications No. 60 / 585,839 and No. 60 / 688,352. technical field [0003] The invention relates to an evaporator to be installed in a car air-conditioning unit having a refrigeration cycle for a car. [0004] The downstream side of the air flow to be passed through the air channel gap between adjacent pairs of heat exchange tubes of the evaporator (this direction is determined by figure 1 , 3 and 6) are referred to herein and in the appended claims as the "front", while the opposite side is referred to as the "rear". In addition, the upper, lower, left and right sides of the evaporator viewed from the rear to the front (the upper and lower parts and the left-hand and right-hand sides of FIG. 2 ) are referred to as "up...
