Embodiment Construction

[0016] The sensor device comprises an electronics unit 10 which is connected to an electrode unit 20 which is disposable. The electrode unit 20 has a plurality of working electrodes WE1-WE6, as well as a reference electrode RE and a counter electrode (auxiliary electrode) CE. More or fewer working electrodes are used in other embodiments. In some embodiments of the invention, the reference electrode and counter electrode may be combined into a pseudo-reference electrode. An electrochemical cell is formed between the working electrode and the reference electrode. To make measurements of the target solution in electrical contact with the electrodes, various voltages - constant and time-varying - are applied between one of the working electrodes and the reference electrode and the resulting current is detected. For example, the concentration of ruthenium (Ru) in a sample can be determined by applying a constant voltage and measuring a current.

Abstract

In an electrochemical sensor, the potential difference applied to electrochemical batteries is increased at a certain ratio to reduce the transient current.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to electrochemical sensors and electrochemical sensing methods. Background technique [0002] In electrochemical biosensors, a working electrode is used together with a counter electrode and a reference electrode, although the counter and reference electrodes are combined into a pseudo-reference electrode. In the following, the term reference electrode should be interpreted as denoting a pseudo-reference electrode, unless the context requires otherwise. To perform the measurement, a potential difference is applied between the working and reference electrodes and the resulting current is measured over the voltage range. The analyte concentration and analyte species present in a liquid can be derived from amperometric measurements at a specific potential difference. Supplementary information may come from measured voltammetric peak positions (and / or mid point positions) and voltammetric peak spacing. WO 03 / 056319 (this do...
