The system for tracking device includes multiple devices connected to network, configuration management module (CMM), and track management module. CMM is in use for storing and maintaining information of track configuration. The track management module is in use for querying CMM to determine devices related to tracking task, sending track control command to each device, and receiving tracking message from each device. The invention also discloses method for tracking device based on the system for tracking device. The method includes following steps: receiving information of tracking task, and based on the information to determine devices related to tracking task; sending commands created by the tracking task to each device; receiving tracking message reported from each device, and obtaining tracking result.
