Embodiment Construction

[0034] The film wrapper 99 shown in FIG. 1 has a first (top) portion 1 , a second (bottom) portion 2 and a tear strip 30 extending between the U-shaped cutout 20 and the U-shaped pull tab 21 . Adjacent to the U-shaped cut 20 are parallel cut lines 11 and perpendicular cut lines 10 . Two additional vertical cutting lines 12 are also shown. To open the carton wrapped with film wrapper 99 , the consumer first tears film wrapper 99 into two parts 1 and 2 by pulling pull tab 21 of tear strip 30 in the direction of incision 20 . After the pulling operation, the top part 1 of the film packaging material 99 is separated from the bottom part 2 and the tear strip 30 . To remove portion 2 of film wrapping material 99, the consumer manually tears portion 2 from the display carton, which is notably facilitated by three vertical cut lines 10 and 12. The top part 1 is smaller than the bottom part 2 and the top part 1 can be easily removed.

Abstract

A film wrapper (99) comprises a tear tape (30) and at least one weakening line (10, 12) next to the tear tape (30) , the longitudinal axis of the at least one weakening line (10, 12) being substantially perpendicular to the tear tape (30) (perpendicular weakening lines (10, 12)) . An article is wrapped into the film wrapper. A multi- bladed knife (100) used for producing the film wrapper comprises a U-shaped or V-shaped first blade (110) and a second linear blade (112) parallel to the longitudinal axis of said first blade (110) and a third linear blade (111) perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the first blade (110) .

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a packaged product comprising an improved film wrapper comprising means to facilitate opening and removal of said film wrapper. The invention also relates to a knife and a method for applying such a device to film packaging material, and to the film packaging material itself. Background technique [0002] Packaged products are often provided with a film packaging material. The wrapper may be provided with a tear strip. Such a strip facilitates the consumer to open the wrapper by pulling on the tear strip. Typically, such wrappers additionally include a tab (pull tab) at one end of the tear strip to facilitate identification and gripping of the tear strip. Examples of packaged products provided with film wrappers including tear strips include cigarette cartons, compact and DVD cases, video and audio cassette cases, and food and drink containers. [0003] For example, cigarette cartons, also known as bundles, are usua...
