The invention provides a method and a system which can reconnect the broken link of an instant communication. The method is applied to an instant communication system with a plurality of client ends and server ends. The steps are: (1) on the condition that the server end detects user broken link at first, the steps are processed: an information back-up step, the server end back-ups the information of the user; automatic reconnecting step in background, the client end automatically reconnected in the background and sends an automatic reconnecting order to the background; and an entering permitting step, according to the automatic reconnecting order, the server end judges whether to permit the reentering of the user.
