The invention relates to a storing device (1) for chunks (2) of (water) ice, comprising a receiving compartment (3) for the ice chunks (2) with a bottom (5), and at least one mobile stirrer (4) for the ice chunks (2) which is especially rotatable about an axis (6). The stirrer (4) is located in the receiving compartment (3) and the stirrer always returns to its initial position. The invention also relates to an automatic ice maker comprising the inventive storing device and to a method for providing ice chunks (2). The invention is characterized in that the stirrer (4) effectively loosens up the ice chunks (2) in an easy manner, thereby counteracting clogging, and substantially increasing the reliability of operation of the storing device or the automatic ice maker.
