The invention discloses a cuttage breeding method of tea short sprout and lateral shoot, which comprises cultivation of cutting tea in a cutting tea garden, establishment of a seed bed, cuttage and seedling protection and is characterized in that: the short sprout and lateral shoot are adopted in cutting. The steps of the breeding method are that: (1) heavy subsoil is applied 10-15 days before picking spring tea; (2) after picking spring tea, pruning is processed at once and promoting fertilizer for leaf surface is sprayed, and then axillary bud grows to be the tea cutting; (3) when the tea cutting grows up to 30-50cm and terminal leaf bud still grows, top pruning is processed to promote lateral bud of the tea cutting to sprout; (4) when the lateral shoot on the tea cutting grows up to 10-15cm, cutting and cuttage can be processed. The method has the advantages that: in normal management condition, survival rate reaches more than 95 percent and nursery rate is up to more than 90 percent; nursery time is short and only 6 months are required from cuttage to the nursery; compared with the prior art, 50 percent of leased charge on land and protection fee of seedlings can be saved while the nursery rate is increased by over 20 percent.
