Abstract

The invention provides a technology for detecting tested image stably by making a plurality of latent images which composes the tested latent image repeating in sub-scanning direction. An image forming apparatus in the invention includes: an exposure head that includes multiple imaging optical systems disposed on the first direction and multiple light emitting elements which emit lights to be focused by the imaging optical system; a latent image carrier that moves in a second direction orthogonal to or substantially orthogonal to the first direction and carries a latent image which is formed by the exposure head; a developing unit that develops the latent image formed by the exposure head; and a detector that detects an image developed by the developing unit, wherein the latent image that is focused by the two imaging optical systems are connected in the first direction.
