To provide an image forming system that, when forming a varnish image superimposed on a toner image formed by using toner including carbon black, can prevent discoloration of the toner image due to heat.SOLUTION: When a black toner image formed by using only black toner is in a superimposition area where a varnish image is formed superimposed on a toner image (Yes in both S3 and S4), a "reference UV condition" is changed (S5). When the black toner image is in the superimposition area, the quantity of irradiation with ultraviolet rays is reduced compared with when the black toner image is not in the area. The reduction in the quantity of irradiation with ultraviolet rays prevents generation of heat resulting from carbon black. However, the reduction in the quantity of irradiation with ultraviolet rays makes the varnish image difficult to be solidified. The conveyance speed of a recording material S is reduced according to the quantity of irradiation with ultraviolet rays so as to secure the integrated light quantity necessary for solidifying the varnish image. The occurrence of discoloration of the toner image can thereby be prevented when the vanish image solidified by ultraviolet rays is formed.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
