Embodiment Construction

[0066] Briefly stated, the present invention can be used to avoid sending multiple separate service messages from a client terminal to multiple service units or applications in a multimedia service network, such as an IMS network. Instead, multiple service messages may be transmitted from the terminal as documents in a single combined multi-service message or the like, where each specific service-related document is embedded in a separate segment of the multi-service message. In this way, signaling traffic can be reduced, which is generally required for terminals and the air interface in particular.

[0067] When a multi-service message is received by the multimedia service network, the node or function configured to distribute the service message will process the multi-service message. Extract business-related information and data and send them separately to target business units or applications in individual business messages.

Abstract

A method and arrangement for distributing service messages from a client terminal (A) to multiple service units or applications (504:1-3) in one or more application servers in a multimedia service network. A multi-service message is received from the terminal comprising a plurality of service message documents containing service-related data targeted to a specific service unit or application. A message distributor (502) converts the received multi-service message into a plurality of individual service messages corresponding to said documents, which are then sent separately towards their respective target service units or applications.

Description

technical field [0001] Generally, the present invention relates to methods and apparatus for handling service messages from customers connected to a telecommunications network. In particular, the invention relates to reducing the amount of signaling when sending service messages from a client terminal to multiple service units or applications in one or more application servers. Background technique [0002] With the advent of 3G mobile phones, new packet-based communication technologies have been developed for delivering multimedia content. For example, GPRS (General Packet Radio Service) and WCDMA (Wideband Code Division Multiple Access) technologies support, in addition to traditional circuit-switched voice calls, wireless multimedia telephony services including packet-switched data communications, which represent images, text, documents, animations, audio documents, video documents, etc. [0003] Recently, a network architecture called "IP Multimedia Subsystem" (IMS) ha...
