Abstract

The present invention provides a method for manufacturing display element, which reduces wear or thickness deflection in manufacturing process when glass substrates forming the display element are thickened. Two display elements holding display material between glass substrates with terminal parts and oppositely arranged glass substrates are prepared, and each terminal part is oppositely arranged and held. The glass substrates and the oppositely arranged glass substrates are thickened by mechanically grinding two surfaces of the pair of the display elements holding the state. Accordingly, the glass of the display elements with thickness less than 0.2mm, in particular about 0.1 mm is obtained. Further, the thickening process is carried out by chemically grinding before mechanically grinding.
