Abstract

The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for repairing a damaged file system of a storage device. According to one aspect of the invention, a list of sectors recently written to the array is retrieved (408) when a write operation to the storage medium was interrupted. The list is used for a fixed point search of the most likely damaged sectors. The sectors provided in the list are examined (412) and sectors that contain errors are identified (416). Then, the errors are corrected (420).
