Abstract

The invention discloses a method for preparing modified starch adhesive for timber, which comprises the following steps of: performing acid hydrolysis and oxidation on corn starch to reduce the molecular weight of the starch, performing esterification and cross linking on the corn starch to obtain stable modified starch emulsion, and then adding adhesion promoter, filling agent and cross-linking agent to obtain the totally formaldehyde-free modified starch adhesive for the timber. The adhesion performance of the adhesive can meet the requirement of class II adhesive for the timber, and the adhesive uses the basically same operating method as urea resin adhesive. The modified starch adhesive prepared by the processing method has good storage stability and low cost, and can be used for producing various boards such as veneers, laminated wood boards, jointed boards and the like.
