Background of the invention [0002] Alkyl polyglycoside is a potentially important surfactant for cosmetic applications. They are widely derived from renewable sources (sugars and vegetable oils) and are biodegradable, aerobically and anaerobically. Furthermore, they are present in less irritating forms of surfactants which are recognized to have good compatibility with the eyes, skin and mucous membranes. Alkyl polyglycosides are ideally used in mild cleansing formulations or to improve the skin compatibility of certain formulations.
