[0013] A. Treat 440 dtex PPTA (poly-para-anilide terephthalamide) yarn with water and dilute alkali using a conventional winder for washing and neutralization. The yarn spacing is 0.48 cm. The spun fibers are washed with water at room temperature by spraying water on the yarn bundle using a liquid splitter rod. The run time before breaking is between 4 and 32 hours (about 15 hours on average).

The spun fibers are washed and neutralized using 20 jet washers per bundle. The operating time before breaking is variable (running time can be several months without breaking).
