Abstract

The invention relates to active control of flame holding and flashback in a turbine combustor fuel nozzle, particularly to a system including a turbine combustor fuel nozzle (12). The turbine combustor fuel nozzle (12) includes an air path (67); a fuel path (69); a premixer section (92) for receiving air (31) from the air path (67) and receiving the fuel (14) from the fuel path (69); and fluid injection holes (84) which is configured to inject fluids in the premixer section (92) in response to a state of detecting a flame burns in the turbine combustor fuel nozzle (12).

Description

[0001] Statement on U.S. Federal Funding for Research & Development [0002] This invention was made with United States Government support under Contract No. DE-FC26-05NT42643 awarded by the United States Department of Energy. The US Government has certain rights in this invention. technical field [0003] The subject matter herein relates to fuel nozzles for gas turbine engines. More specifically, the disclosed subject matter relates to eliminating flashback and flame holding associated with fuel nozzles. Background technique [0004] A gas turbine engine combusts a mixture of fuel and air to produce hot combustion gases, which in turn drive one or more turbines. Specifically, the hot combustion gases force turbine blades to rotate, thereby driving a shaft that rotates one or more loads, such as an electrical generator. As is understood, a flame is formed in a combustion zone with a combustible mixture of fuel and air. Unfortunately, flames can potentially propagate up...
