Abstract

The invention discloses a method for releasing right-turn vehicles to pass through a signalized intersection on a short lane under mixed traffic and a control system thereof. The control system comprises a traffic sign marked line, detection equipment, a canalization measure and a signal control facility. The system-based releasing method comprises the following steps of: after the short lane is full of the right-turn vehicles, providing green time for the right-turn vehicles to pass, and stopping releasing straight-going non-motor vehicles on the same side; after the vehicles queuing on the short lane are emptied, releasing the straight-going non-motor vehicles, stopping left-turn vehicles in a left-turn waiting area; and when a detector detects that the short lane is full of the right-turn vehicles, releasing the right-turn vehicles again, and prohibiting the straight-going non-motor vehicles from passing. Through the technical scheme, (1) conflict between motor vehicles and the non-motor vehicles is avoided, and the safety of the intersection is improved; (2) the utilization rate of the green time and the short lane is improved; (3) the delay of the right-turn vehicles and the non-motor vehicles is reduced, and the passing capacity of the intersection is improved; and (4) the traffic management of the intersection is more humanized.
