Abstract

The invention relates to a converter steelmaking final slag modifier and a use method thereof. The modifier is characterized by consisting of the following raw materials in percentage by weight: 30-50 percent of metal Mg, 10-30 percent of metal Al, 15-35 percent of quick lime and 5-15 percent of coke dust. The modifier is added in the sequence that: (1) the modifier is added into a converter after the converter stops blowing and before tapping is finished, and 20-40kg of modifier is added for every ton of slag; and (2) when the amount of discharged slag exceeds 10kg per ton of steel after the tapping of the converter is finished, the modifier is continuously replenished on the to top of the slag of a ladle after the tapping of the converter is finished, and the amount of the replenished modifier is 1-5kg per ton of steel. The modifier has the beneficial effects that: Mg, Al and C in the modifier can be used for reducing FeO in slag liquid; meanwhile, the viscosity and the melting point of the slag can be obviously improved due to the presence of oxidation products MgO and CaO of Mg; and if the amount of the discharged slag is too much, the modifier can be continuously replenished on the to top of the slag of the ladle, so that modification of the top slag of the ladle is realized, and the purity of molten steel is improved.
