The invention discloses a color catching method and a system thereof. The method comprises the steps of: (1) presetting a color; converting the preset color into a RGB value; setting a region to be caught; (2) catching an image of the current region; (3) analyzing the RGB value for catching an image pixel; (4) judging whether the current caught region has the preset color or not according to the RGB value of the color; if yes, executing step (5); if not, executing step (6); (5) catching successfully; and (6) catching unsuccessfully. The system comprises a region setting module for setting the image catching region, a region catching module for catching the image catching region, a color presetting module for presetting the color and converting the preset color into the color with the RGB value, and a color catching module for judging whether the current caught region has the preset color according to the RGB value of the color. According to the invention, the RGB value of the color is directly set for catching the color, which is color catching in real meaning; the steps are simple; and the identifying efficiency is high.
