Abstract

A system includes a display screen configured to display images, a touch sensor having a sensing area, a main processing system, and a touch screen control system. The touch screen control system includes a touch sensor control circuit configured to operate the touch sensor and a display control circuit configured to operate the display screen. The display circuitry includes a first memory configured to store a primary image, a second memory configured to store a secondary image, and display refresh circuitry. The display refresh circuit is configured to update the display screen, generate a blended image including the primary image and the secondary image in response to user input and without intervention of the main processing system, and update the display screen with the blended image.

Description

[0001] CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATIONS [0002] This application claims the benefit of priority from US Provisional Patent Application 61 / 174,403, filed April 30, 2009, which is incorporated herein by reference in its entirety. Background technique [0003] Electronic devices are ubiquitous in today's society. As technology advances in electronic devices, the number of integrated functions implemented on such devices also increases. As one example, many of today's electronic devices include the ability to display information to a user and receive touch-based input from the user. To receive and process touch-based input, many current electronic devices utilize capacitive sensing devices combined with display devices. Typically, such capacitive sensing devices process user input received from, for example, one or more fingers, a stylus, or other objects in the sensing area of the capacitive sensor device. [0004] However, as the number of integrated functions on an...
