Problems solved by technology

For example, PRF cannot be set high enough to measure abnormally high blood flow velocities at many imaging depths, e.g. regurgitation in heart valves
Therefore, in abnormal cardiac conditions, color Doppler often exhibits aliasing, thus reducing the reliability of any diagnosis based on blood flow images

Abstract

Some embodiments include acquisition of color Doppler data, and detection of one or more transitions of the color Doppler data, each of the one or more transitions being between a first area representing flow velocity in a first direction and a second area representing flow velocity not in the first direction. A normalized energy function across one or more of the one or more transitions is calculated, a configuration of flow areas within the color Doppler data is determined, and aliasing corrections for the color Doppler data are determined based on the normalized energy functions and the configuration of flow areas.

Description

[0001] Cross References to Related Applications [0002] This application claims priority to US Provisional Patent Application Serial No. 61 / 232,862, filed August 11, 2009, entitled "Method and Apparatus for Ultrasonic Imaging," which is hereby incorporated by reference in its entirety for this purpose. technical field [0003] The systems and methods described herein generally relate to the field of ultrasound imaging. More specifically, the embodiments described below relate to methods and systems for color flow imaging. Background technique [0004] Ultrasound is used to image a variety of internal structures, including but not limited to the heart, liver, fetus, and blood vessels. For the diagnosis of cardiovascular disease, color Doppler (or color flow) imaging is commonly used to visualize blood flow in the heart or blood vessels. Abnormal conditions often increase the velocity of blood flow compared to normal conditions. The increased velocity can lead to aliasing ...
