Abstract

The invention relates to an apparatus and a method for the detection of the presence of solid particles in a liquid phase, wherein the solid substance and the liquid phase are enclosed as a mixture in an at least partially transparent container. The apparatus includes a processor unit and a camera to make digitized images in the form of arrays of pixels with their associated pixel values. The apparatus also includes an agitator device to hold the container and to impart movements to the container, t whereby kinetic energy is transmitted to the mixture. The camera is aimed at a transparent portion of the container to take images of the mixture in motion. During a recording phase, digitized images of the mixture in motion taken by the camera are transmitted to the processor unit.
