The transformer anti-theft alarm device comprises a microprocessor, a clock circuit, an acceleration sensor, a global system for mobile communications (GSM) communication module, a memory and a power supply, wherein the clock circuit, the acceleration sensor, the GSM communication module and the memory are connected with the microprocessor; the GSM communication module is connected with monitoring equipment; the clock circuit is connected with a clock power supply; and the power supply is used for providing power for the acceleration sensor, the microprocessor, the memory, the GSM communication module and the monitoring equipment. The control method comprises the steps of detecting, searching and waiting, starting long-distance communication, and transmitting. By the transformer anti-theft alarm device and the control method, an alarm can be sent out 100 percent during a theft, and position information can be provided; and the independent transformer anti-theft alarm device can work stably for a plurality of years, and has the advantages of no interference and no maintenance.
