no. 1 approach

[0050] Figure 1 to Figure 4 A battery pack (battery module) 1 according to the first embodiment of the present invention is shown. The battery pack 1 has seven single cells (battery cells) 2 which are non-aqueous electrolyte secondary batteries in a square shape.

[0051] further reference Figure 5 to Figure 7 It can be seen that each single cell 2 contains an electrolyte solution and a power generation unit 4 in the battery container 3 (schematically shown in Figure 6 and Figure 7 Middle), the upper end side opening of the battery container 3 is sealed with the lid body 5 .

[0052]The battery container 3 of the present embodiment has side walls 3b to 3e extending upward from a rectangular bottom wall 3a. The side walls include a pair of long side walls 3b, 3c facing each other, and a pair of short side walls 3d, 3e facing each other, which are smaller in area than these long side walls 3b, 3c. In the four sides of the rectangle formed by the bottom wall 3a in a plan ...

no. 2 approach

[0082] Figure 13 to Figure 16 It shows the battery pack 1 according to the second embodiment of the present invention. The battery pack 1 has eight single cells 2 of the same square shape as the first embodiment. Specifically, the single cells 2 are arranged in two rows, and each row has four cells. Single battery 2. Such as Figure 16 As shown, from the single cell 2 in the lower left corner to the single cell 2 in the upper left corner, the external terminals 7A, 7B of each single cell 2 are connected to the external terminals 7A, 7B of other adjacent single cells 2 in the same column or in different columns through the bus bar 8 connection, eight cells 2 are connected together in series.

[0083] The battery pack 1 of the second embodiment is also the same as that of the first embodiment, and the inspection terminal portions 10a of the connecting rods 10A, 10B protruding outward from the upper cap body 21 are connected by the terminal portions 10a protruding from the fro...

Abstract

Each of electric cells (2)constituting a battery assembly (1) is provided with external terminals (7A, 7B). The upper end of the electric cell (2)is covered with an upper cap (21) surrounding the external terminals (7A, 7B) whereas the lower end of the electric cell is covered with a lower cap (22). The electric cell (2) is held between an upper holder (23)and a lower holder (24) via the upper cap (21) and the lower cap (22). The upper cap (21) includes a protector (32) including ribs (33A, 33B) projecting along both sides of an inspecting terminal projecting through a terminal opening. The upper ends of the ribs (33A, 33B) are located above the inspecting terminal (10a). Consequently, a metallic tool or the like cannot be brought into contact with the inspecting terminal(10a), thereby preventing short-circuiting. Thus, it is possible to secure an excellent assembling performance while enhancing the safety of assembling work.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a plurality of electric cells (battery unit) and a battery pack (battery module) in which these electric cells are electrically connected to realize modularization. Background technique [0002] External terminals of cells constituting a battery pack are electrically connected to external terminals of other adjacent cells via conductive members such as bus bars (for example, refer to Patent Documents 1 and 2). [0003] When assembling a battery pack, if an external terminal or a connecting rod for connecting the external terminal to the power generation unit in the cell comes into contact with, for example, a metal tool, a short circuit will occur. In order to prevent short circuits, if a jig is used, the process of attaching and dismounting the jig is required, resulting in a decrease in assemblability.
