The method comprises the following steps of: receiving messages sent by other base stations by a source base station, if the messages are release context messages, judging whether the base stations which send the release context messages are the base stations which are selected during switching decision, if so, counting a successful time of switching; if the messages are wireless link failure indicating messages, judging whether a terminal reestablishes a radio resource control (RRC) connection during switching according to the wireless link failure indicating messages, if the terminal does not reestablish the radio resource control (RRC) connection during switching, judging whether the release context messages sent by the base stations are received; and if the release context messages sent by the base stations are received, returning to the step of judging whether the base stations which send the release context messages are the base stations which are selected during the switching decision. The invention also provides a system for counting the successful times of switching in the LTE system to implement the method.
