The BFD method comprises the steps that: driving end equipment determines an optimal transmission path; the driving end equipment sends an LSP ping message to driven end equipment, and the LSP ping message carries with information of the optimal transmission path; after the driven end equipment receives the LSP ping message, a selected transmission path is determined by using the information of the optimal transmission path; and when the driving end equipment carries out BFD detection on the LSP, the driven end equipment sends a BFD message to the driving end equipment through the selected transmission path.
