A process of responding the message conversion comprises the following steps of: after the home gateway receives a response message which is returned back from the UPnP equipment, judging that an error code in the response message is equal to 0 or not; if so, reversely converting the request message; if not, converting error codes of the UPnP protocol and the CWMP; and finally, packaging a reversely-converted order or the error code into a response message of the CWMP, and sending the response message to the automatic configuration server. According to the conversion method, a rule followed by protocol conversion can be provided, so that proxy equipment and a proxy system of a home network terminal can be managed in a long distance manner.
