[0029] One technique to overcome the disadvantages of shuttered glasses systems involves breaking down the shutters so that the modulator part resides at the image generation unit and the passive decoding polarized glasses reside at the viewer. This arrangement is described in commonly owned US Patent No. 6,975,345, which is incorporated herein by reference. Passive glasses can basically eliminate the above disadvantages. Light-weight, low-cost, and comfortable thermoformable polarized glasses can now be worn by spectators while the polarization modulation unit is attached to the surface of the AMLCD.
