Abstract

The invention provides a direct type LED (Light-emitting Diode) backlight source. The direct type LED backlight source comprises a power-switching circuit and a plurality of LED strings which are connected in parallel, wherein the power-switching circuit is used for converting alternating-current voltage from the outside of a liquid crystal display device to direct-current voltage and outputting the direct-current voltage; each LED string comprises a predetermined number of LEDs which are connected in series and is capable of receiving direct-current voltage from the power-switching circuit, wherein the predetermined quantity is restrained, so that the direct-current voltage of each LED emitting light normally in the LED strings is smaller than and equal to the direct-current voltage output by the power-switching circuit. According to the direct type LED backlight source provided by the invention, a booster circuit is not used, so that complexity of a circuit is reduced and cost is lowered.
