Disclosed are a mail attachment preview method and a mail system. The method comprises: a mail server analyzing a mail body and an attachment structure from mail contents; generating a hyperlink for each mail attachment, inserting the hyperlink into the mail body, recoding the mail contents and then sending same to a mail client; the mail client sending a link request message to a preview server in accordance with the hyperlinks in the mail contents to request to preview attachments; the preview server verifying the identity of the mail client; and analyzing attachment contents and returning same to the mail client in accordance with the mail identifiers and the attachment location in the link request message after having passed the verification. The embodiments of the present invention analyze mail attachment contents through a server, and present same to the client through a browser. Thus, the client need not install an attachment analytic program.
