Problems solved by technology

[0008] One problem with the mechanisms and rates currently supported by the ECMA368 / 369 standards is that it is not sufficient to support some applications, such as High Definition Digital Television (HDTV), which require a data rate of 1Gbps or higher depending on the HDTV format

Abstract

The invention provides a WTRU and a method for enabling multi-band transmission. The WTRU includes a receiver, a first transmitter, a second transmitter and a processor. The processor is configured to communication with the receiver, the first transmitter and the second transmitter, to control the first transmitter to transmit on a first radio band, to control the second transmitter to transmit on a second radio band, to monitor transmit media to determine the existence of a beacon frame, and establish a beacon period (BP) based on the determination. The beacon frame is used for aligning BP start time synchronous information on the first and second radio bands, wherein the first transmitter transmits the beacon frame on the first radio band and the second transmitter transmits the beacon frame on the second radio band.

Description

[0001] This application is a divisional application of a Chinese patent application with an application date of December 4, 2007, an application number of 200780044941.3, and an invention title of "Method and Apparatus for Initiating Multi-band Transmission". technical field [0002] The present invention relates to wireless communication systems. Background technique [0003] Ultra-Wideband (UWB) technology is standardized under the ECMA368 / 369 specification. More particularly, the ECMA368 / 369 standard specifies the distributed medium access control (MAC) and physical (PHY) layers of WTRUs supporting data rates up to 480 megabits per second (Mbps). The PHY layer is designed to operate in the 3.1 to 10.6 gigahertz (GHz) spectrum and has been accepted as applications such as next-generation Bluetooth , Wireless Universal Serial Bus (WUSB) and Wireless FireWire (IEEE1394) and other common platforms. [0004] The ECMA368PHY layer uses Multi-Band Orthogonal Frequency Division...
