The method comprises the steps: a self port of a switch is bound with the AP so as to generate a binding relation; the switch queries a table entry corresponding to the port according to the binding relation; the switch detects the queried table entry, and judges whether the AP has a fault; and if the AP has a fault, the switch recovers the AP. The method and the device disclosed by the invention are suitable for the fault detection and maintenance of the AP in a wireless network.
