Abstract

The present invention relates to an organic electroluminescent device and a lighting device. According to one embodiment, an organic electroluminescent device includes a first electrode, a plurality of second electrodes, and an organic light emitting layer. The first electrode includes a first major surface and is light-transmissive. The second electrodes extend in a first direction parallel to the first major surface and are spaced apart from each other in a second direction parallel to the first major surface and perpendicular to the first direction. The light transmittance of the second electrode is lower than that of the first electrode. A distance along the second direction between the line extending in the first direction and the side surface of each second electrode continuously increases and decreases along the first direction. The above-mentioned side surfaces are not parallel to the first main surface. An organic light emitting layer is disposed between the first electrode and the second electrode.

Description

[0001] Cross references to related applications [0002] This application is based on the prior Japanese Patent Application No. 2012-067199 filed on March 23, 2012 and claims the right of priority; the entire content of the application is incorporated herein by reference. Technical field [0003] The embodiments described herein generally relate to organic electroluminescent devices and lighting devices. Background technique [0004] In recent years, organic electroluminescent devices have attracted a lot of attention due to their use in surface light sources and the like. In an organic electroluminescence device, an organic thin film is disposed between two electrodes. When a current is applied to the organic film, electrons and holes are injected into the organic film and recombined in the organic film, thereby generating excitons. Utilize the electroluminescence that occurs when the above excitons undergo radiative de-excitation. [0005] Related to organic electroluminescent de...
