Light emitting diode based products

Various exemplary implementations of light emitting diode (LED) based illumination products and methods are disclosed including, but not limited to, glow sticks, key chains, toys, balls, various game accessories, light bulbs, night lights, wall lights, wall switches, wall sockets, wall panels, modular lights, flexible lights, automotive lights, wearable accessories, light ropes, decorative lights such as icicles and icicle strings, light tubes, insect control lights and methods, and lighted air fresheners / scent dispensers. Any of the foregoing devices may be equipped with various types of user interfaces (both “local” and “remote”) to control light generated from the device. Additionally, devices may be controlled via light control information or programs stored in device memory and / or transmitted or downloaded to the devices (e.g., devices may be controlled individually or collectively in groups via a network, glow sticks or other products may be downloaded with programming information that is stored in memory, etc.). Devices also may include sensors so that the generated light may change in response to various operating and / or environmental conditions or a user input. Various optical processing devices which may be used with any of the devices (e.g., reflectors, diffusers, etc.) also are disclosed.

LED lamps and LED driver circuits for the same

LED lamp has LEDs aimed rearwards with either a concave mirror to the rear of each LED, or one concave mirror to the rear of two or more LEDs, collecting the light from the LEDs to form a forward projecting beam. LEDs may be high power types that require heatsinking. LED lamp may have a lens forward of each LED to collimate the radiation produced by the LEDs into a beam, where at least one lens has at least one aspheric curved surface. LED lamp may have a transparent reflective optic to collimate the radiation produced by each LED into a beam. For an inspection lamp, the LEDs typically have a peak wavelength of 395 to 415 naometers for seeing the area being irradiated but not so visible as to overwhelm fluorescence of fluorescent materials to be detected. Other wavelengths may be used. LED inspection lamp has a combination of LEDs of different wavelengths or a combination of at least one LED and at least one other light source such that the lamp produces radiation suitable for detection of materials to be detected and adequately illuminates the area being irradiated. LED lamp has LEDs that produce a beam of suitable radiation with a width of 10 degrees or less without additional optics. LED inspection lamp has head attached to a flexible member, with head serving as heatsink for one or more high power LEDs. Current regulator circuits are also disclosed.

High power light emitting diode

A method and system are taught for a system comprising an LED package. The LED package may comprise a leadframe having an annular contact and a base contact. An LED die may be coupled to the annular and base contacts such that the P-type material portion is electrically connected to an annular contact and the N-type material portion is electrically connected to a base contact. Alternatively the N-type material portion may be electrically connected to the annular contact and the P-type material portion may be electrically connected to the base contact. A lens may be coupled to the leadframe, and an optical material may be located in a cavity defined by the lens, the base contact, and the annular contact. The optical material may be a gel, a grease, a resilient material, a non-resilient material, a rigid material, a liquid material or a non-liquid material. The method and system may further comprise a mounting device, wherein the LED package is mechanically coupled to the mounting device in a socket, bayonet, or threaded fashion. The method and system may further comprise a strip comprising an array of annular contacts utilized to form an array of the LED packages and a carrier strip comprising receiving devices to receive the array of LED packages. A portion of the lens may either be coated with or comprise light excitable material or the optical material may comprise light excitable material, such that the system emits white light.
