Problems solved by technology

In addition, the process of turning the craft up to the bank and rolling back down the bank poses a certain risk of damage to the craft
Also, the substantial amount of time required to perform traditional weight and balance analyzes of aircraft increases production time, as commercial aircraft production is often not considered complete until weight and balance analyzes have been performed

Embodiment Construction

[0022] Referring now to the drawings, in which are shown preferred and various embodiments for illustrating the present disclosure, figure 1 Shown in is a side view of an aircraft 10 having one or more devices 70 for lifting the aircraft 10 surrounding the landing gear 40 , 42 of the aircraft 10 . Aircraft 10 may be defined with respect to a reference frame 20 having a longitudinal axis 22, a transverse axis 24, and a vertical axis 26, wherein each axis 22, 24, 26 is oriented orthogonally relative to one another. The longitudinal axis 22 may extend between the front end 14 and the tail end 16 of the aircraft. The reference frame 20 may coincide with any datum point 18 which may serve as a reference for establishing the position of the center of gravity 60 of the aircraft 10 .

[0023] Aircraft 10 may include a fuselage 12 extending from a nose at a forward end 14 to an empennage at an aft end 16 . Empennage 32 may include one or more empennage surfaces, such as vertical airf...

Abstract

An apparatus for lifting an aircraft (10) may include a plurality of lifting mechanisms (74) mounted on a supporting surface (64). Each lifting mechanism (74) may be configured to impart an upward force (90) on a component (38) of the aircraft (10) for lifting the aircraft (10) off the supporting surface (64). The apparatus (10) may include a beam structure (100) configured to be mounted to the lifting mechanisms (74). The apparatus (10) may also include a lifting beam (140) suspended from the beam structure (100). A measurement device (178) may be mounted to the lifting beam (140) and may be configured to engage a jack point (54) associated with the component (38) to determine a weight of the aircraft (10) when the aircraft is lifted off the supporting surface (64).

Description

technical field [0001] The present disclosure relates generally to measurement systems, and more particularly to a system and method for determining weight and balance of an aircraft. Background technique [0002] Ground vibration testing of aircraft is performed to determine the vibration characteristics of the aircraft and to verify that the aircraft is free from flutter under normal operating conditions. During ground vibration testing, electrodynamic vibrators may be connected to the aircraft to provide stimulating input (eg, vibration) to the aircraft. The dynamic response of the aircraft to stimulus inputs may be measured using sensors (eg, accelerometers) mounted at various locations on the aircraft. The dynamic response can be compared to a structural dynamic analysis of the vehicle to determine the frequency and damping characteristics of the vehicle. The results of the comparison can be used to validate and / or improve the structural dynamic analysis model. [00...
