The embodiment of the invention discloses a method and device for verifying the authenticity of a terminal. The method for verifying the authenticity of the terminal is applied to a server and includes the steps that a verification request which is sent by the terminal is received, wherein the verification request carries the model of the terminal and the hardware parameters of a predetermined hardware project of the terminal; at least one set of prestored hardware parameter information in a model which is the same as the model of the terminal is inquired; a verification result corresponding to the terminal is determined according to the hardware parameters in the inquired hardware parameter information, the corresponding proportion of the hardware parameters, the hardware parameters of the predetermined hardware project of the terminal; the verification result is fed back to the terminal so that the terminal can inform a user of the verification result. According to the scheme, a unique equipment identification code which can be forged through manual input is avoided, hence, the accuracy for verifying the authenticity of the terminal can be improved, and the speed for verifying the authenticity of the terminal can be increased.
