The method comprises the steps of setting an engine oil resistor resistance critical value RC and an engine oil detector resistance critical decrease rate KC; monitoring and calculating the engine oil resistor resistance value and the engine oil resistance decrease rate in real time; determining the engine oil to be aged if the engine oil resistor resistance value is equal to or smaller than the critical value RC, and determining that no oil exists in the position if the engine oil resistor resistance value is infinitely great; determining that the engine oil is mixed with water or fuel if the resistance decrease rate is greater than the critical decrease rate; and determining that oil exists in the position if the resistance value is greater than the critical value. The monitoring device is characterized in that an engine oil resistor is connected to a power supply after being connected with a voltage dividing resistor in serial to form a closed circuit, and two ends of the voltage dividing resistor are connected to an engine oil monitoring signal input end of a microcomputer controller. By adopting the engine oil monitoring method and the engine oil monitoring device, the engine oil viscosity and the engine oil level of the engine can be conveniently and automatically monitored, the state and type of the engine oil viscosity can be accurately determined, and the diesel engine failure caused by the decrease of the engine oil viscosity can be prevented.
