Embodiment Construction

[0012] figure 1 An example of a wind turbine 2 is shown. Although an offshore wind turbine is shown, it should be noted that the following description may apply to other types of wind turbines. Indeed, the following description relates to lubrication systems and methods that can be applied to a wide range of industrial products or systems, including those in other fields of industry. The wind turbines are shown and described for purposes of discussion only.

[0013] Based on this, the wind turbine 2 comprises rotor blades 4 mounted to a hub 6 supported by a nacelle 8 on a tower 12 . The wind causes the rotor blades 4 and hub 6 to rotate around the main axis 14 ( figure 2 ) turn. This rotational energy is transmitted to a power transmission system (or “drive train”) 10 housed in the nacelle 8 . exist figure 2 and image 3 In the representative embodiment shown, the power transmission system 10 includes a coupling to the hub 6 ( figure 1 ) of the spindle 16. The power...

Abstract

The method involves directing lubricant to different consumers to be monitored via the consumer's lubricant. The lubricant is discharged through a discharge line connected to the consumer and led to a storage tank. At least some of the lubricant in the discharge line or consumer is extracted into the extraction line. Flow from the extraction line is selectively directed to a measurement device which in turn measures the properties of the lubricant. A system for performing such a method is also provided, wherein the system includes a multiplexer for selectively directing flow from the extraction line.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a lubrication system and method for consumer monitoring by consumer lubricant. The system and method relate in particular to wind turbines. Background technique [0002] A wind turbine (also known as a "wind turbine generator" or WTG) includes many moving parts that help convert the kinetic energy of the wind into electrical energy. This is particularly evident in the power transmission system of a wind turbine, which typically includes one or more main bearings, a gearbox, and a generator for processing rotational mechanical energy from the wind turbine's rotor. Components of power transmission systems often require some form of lubrication to help reduce friction and wear. Accordingly, wind turbines typically include one or more lubrication systems for these and other components. [0003] Monitoring the lubricant condition in a lubrication system is beneficial for a number of reasons. For example, the presence of ...
