Embodiment Construction

[0096] The following detailed description relates to a vehicle having a modular equipment center to increase vehicle system redundancy while also distributing modular equipment centers (MECs) throughout the vehicle such that the required line weight of the line connections is minimized and quantity to reduce overall vehicle weight and production time. The invention is capable of embodiment in many different forms. It is not intended to limit the principles of the invention to the particular disclosed embodiments. References made below to a direction (eg "front", "rear", "left" and "right") are made from the rear of the vehicle looking forward. In the following detailed description, reference is made to the accompanying drawings, which form a part hereof, and are shown by way of illustration of specific embodiments or examples. Referring now to the drawings, in which like numerals represent like elements throughout the several views, aspects of the present disclosure will be ...

Abstract

The present invention relates to modular equipment center distributed equipment packaging trusses and modular truss assemblies configured to be placed within small or confined spaces, such as within the floor, sidewall or crown of a vehicle, for mechanical and electrical The system components of the Modular Equipment Center (MEC) will be installed efficiently. Multiple MECs are spatially distributed throughout the vehicle to service the equipment load. The modular truss assembly provides different voltage levels to power the system components of the MEC and to power the equipment loads. In one or more configurations, all or part of the modular truss assembly can be removed from the vehicle for repair or replacement.

Description

technical field [0001] The field of embodiments presented herein is directed to modular vehicle architecture, and more particularly, to support structures for mounting and powering components of distributed power and data aircraft architecture. Background technique [0002] Most commercial aircraft have one or more centralized equipment bays for housing power and communications equipment. The self-centralized equipment base distributes power and data throughout the aircraft to control all functions within the aircraft. The centralized equipment mounts are displaced from each other across one or more segment discontinuities within the aircraft. Typically, one centralized equipment mount is in the front section and the other centralized equipment mount is in the rear section of the aircraft. [0003] A generator driven by the main propulsion engine generates three-phase primary electrical power for the aircraft. Primary power is first routed to the rear equipment mounts, an...
