The double-speed video playing method comprises the following steps of at least dividing a video frame sequence which is formed by video frames in a to-be-played video into one video frame combination section according to the video playing doubled speed and the maximum decoding frame rate of a video decoder; respectively selecting at least one video frame to obtain a video frame set according to a fixed inter-frame interval in every divided video frame combination section; decoding video frames in the video frame set, outputting a decode according to the playing sequence or reverse playing sequence of the video frames in the to-be-played video and obtaining the video frame. The double-speed video playing method can retain most scenes of the to-be-played video frame sequence, avoids scene jump and blocked playing and improves the video playing smoothness.
