Abstract

A method, wireless transmit / receive unit (WTRU), and base station are described for communicating small packets. A WTRU generates a packet with one or more of a Medium Access Control (MAC) or Physical Layer Convergence Protocol (PLCP) header that includes fields. Where the WTRU has data buffered for transmission, the WTRU includes in the field information indicating the time or transmission opportunity (TXOP) required to transmit at least one packet of data that the WTRU has buffered for transmission . The WTRU transmits the packet to another WTRU in the wireless network. The WTRU receives another packet with an authorized TXOP from another WTRU based on the time required to transmit at least one packet of data that the WTRU has buffered for transmission.
