Abstract

The invention belongs to the digital image processing and pattern recognition technical field and relates to a target tracking-based pedestrian loitering detection algorithm. The algorithm includes a target extraction phase, an object tracking phase and a loitering judgment phase. In the target extraction phase, a moving target is extracted from an image through a Vibe background difference method, and therefore, high time performance and recall rate can be realized; in the object tracking phase, color histogram characteristics of the extracted moving object are calculated, and successive frames are tracked through utilizing a particle filter algorithm, so that the movement trajectory of the target can be obtained, and therefore, high robustness and real-time performance in an actual scene can be realized; and in the loitering judgment phase, the geometric characteristics of the movement trajectory of the target are utilized to perform loitering judgment. The algorithm of the invention has the advantages of high real-time performance and easiness in implementation. With the algorithm adopted, detection requirements of different scenes such as classrooms, workshops, stations and squares can be satisfied.
