The method comprises: S100, a configuration module obtaining the priority of a process which needs thin provisioning, and required storage space size, and performing distribution of storage space for the first time on the process according to the priority of the process and the required storage space size; S200, a management module obtaining thin provisioning information of at least a process, and issuing the information to a timer module; S300, the timer module performing regular check on the at least a process according to the received thin provisioning information, and expanding storage space for the processes which need expanding. Through managing the processes which need thin provisioning, and through the management module to obtain all the processes which use thin provisioning, use efficiency of storage space is improved.
