The method comprises: obtaining position information of a portable positioning apparatus carrier in a building; obtaining information about each fire exit in the building, wherein the fire exit information comprises position information of the fire exit; separately collecting statistics on a number of stuff of each fire exit in the building according to the position information of the portable positioning apparatus carrier; determining an evacuation path according to the position information of the portable positioning apparatus carrier, the information about each fire exit, and the number of stuff of each fire exit; and sending a corresponding evacuation path separately to a user of the portable positioning apparatus. According to the crowd evacuation method, an evacuation path that is short in distance and is not crowded can be determined for the portable positioning apparatus carrier; and fire exit congestion because a large crowd of people rush to a same fire exit can be avoided, so as to evacuate the crowd timely and efficiently.
