Abstract

The invention relates to a manual operating instrument (6) for an industrial technical system (1) comprising an input device (7) and some of the following modules (11-16): a proximity sensor (11), an acceleration sensor (12), an orientation sensor (13), a position-determining device (14) and an image-capturing device (15). Commands input by a user (3) of the manual operating instrument (6) via the input device (7) and output signals of the modules (11-16) are fed to an evaluation device (9) in the manual operating instrument (6). The evaluation device (9) evaluates the commands and the output signals and, on the basis of the evaluation, transmits control commands to a control device (2) in the industrial technical system (1). As part of the evaluation, the evaluation device (9) compares the output signals of the modules (11-16) to predetermined first signal patterns. The evaluation device (9) transmits control commands that effect an activation of components (4) in the industrial technical system (1) to the control device (2) only if the user (3) specifies a command requesting the activation of the component (4) and the output signals of the modules (11-16) match one of the predetermined first signal patterns.
