Aiming at the problem, the invention extracts and combines two types of image information including position information and pixel variation information and discloses a novel vehicle flow division counting method based on the virtual detection line. The method combines respective advantages of a virtual coil and target tracking and has the advantages of timeliness and high accuracy of vehicle flow statistics. Experimental results show that accuracy of the method used in video vehicle counting in each lane under various different weather conditions exceeds 95%, and the method has the advantages of easy generalization and implementation.
