Problems solved by technology

Sheriffs will have to flag the suspect subject again on the adjacent camera's screen, which can be very puzzling due to the fact that the person looks alike on the sheriff's camera
Furthermore, continuous tracking along the camera series requires frequent manual intervention

Embodiment Construction

[0111] The invention relates to a system that can identify a person by the part of his hair. It was found that the spectrum in the frequency domain of human hair and skull structure is influenced by various parameters from which the signature is unique and characteristic for a given person. The color, thickness, and number of hairs per given block have a high influence on the signal. The cranial structure is also unique, and the spectrum is altered to form a unique spectrum in terms of the common angles of the skull and the distribution of hair on the skull. It is well known that a given surface patch of an object has an effect on the entire spectrum in the frequency domain.

[0112] Initially, the system analyzes the image portion of the subject's hair and marks him with a signature. The system can then identify the subject when additional images of him are obtained, analyze the additional images and compare to the original image / signature.

[0113] Since the systems of th...

Abstract

The present invention relates to a method and system for generating and comparing a biometric singular signature of a person comprising the steps of a) obtaining a first image of a person; b) obtaining a hair portion image of the person; c) transforming the hair portion image into its frequency domain image and optionally saving said frequency domain image in a database. Additional applications associated to the method are disclosed.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to the field of biometric identification by image and signal processing. More specifically, the invention relates to identifying a person by spectral analysis of the person's hair. Background technique [0002] Current biometric methods for image identification of subjects are based on clean faces, irises, handprints, etc., and require special preparation and clean photographs from specially mounted cameras. Since standard security cameras have relatively low resolution, they are often placed at high angles, and operate under uncontrolled lighting conditions, all current biometric methods are ineffective when used with them. One of the consequences of these shortcomings is that person identification from these cameras is inefficient. Today's tracking methods are based on the fact that a camera can track a specific object until the object exits the camera's field of view. When a person exits the field of view of a particular cam...
